Bloodstock Insurance Scheme

The Hong Kong Racehorse Owners Association has appointed Storfield Insurance Consultants Limited (¡§Storfield¡¨) as the Association's preferred broker, offering bloodstock insurance services with security provided by HSBC Insurance (Asia) Limited, to our members. Highlights of the scope of covers and services are as follows:
 
(I)
For Racehorses in Hong Kong
  Types of Cover include:
   
 
Basic Cover: Mortality
Optional Rider #1: Restrictive Loss of Use (100% indemnity)
 
Optional Rider #2: Full Loss of Use (90% indemnity)
Optional Rider #2a: Full Loss of Use (100% indemnity)
   
(II)
For Horses currently overseas pending to be imported to Hong Kong
 
 
One-stop-service of Mortality cover includes horse at training, farm, quarantine and transit, provided that the insured horse will not participate in any form of races whilst overseas. Geographic locations include Australia, New Zealand, UK, Europe, USA, South Africa and South America.

Full / Restrictive Loss of Use cover can be taken out whilst horse is overseas, subject to prior approval by the Insurance Company.
   
(III)
Other Forms of Cover
   
(a)
Transit Insurance (Mortality cover) can be arranged for horses importing from overseas.
   
(b)
Fall of Hammer Cover Insurance is available for a successful bid of a new horse upon ¡§fall of hammer¡¨ at public auctions (e.g. Hong Kong International Sales, Karaka Sales in New Zealand ).
   
(c)
Extension for racehorses participating in overseas races is available.
   
(IV)
Agreed Value Sum Insured ¡V Guaranteed agreed value throughout the policy period for HSBC policy.
   
In Hong Kong, bloodstock insurance has a very limited market. We aim to secure the best possible terms and high quality of services to members of the HKROA. We consider our present arrangement with Storfield will enable us to serve this purpose.
